Spiced Apple Slices

Spiced Apple Slices

This is such a sweet way to end any meal, you can use any fruit that is in season, but here is the basic recipe with my favorite Granny Smith Apples. Granny Smith Apples have many health benefits but important to the Dash Diet they help lower cholesterol and helps diabetics and has low calories for a fruit.

This recipe serves 4 people and only has 3 mg of sodium and 16 mg cholesterol per serving.

Ingredients

2 Large Granny Smith Apples (peeled, cored and cut into ¼ inch slices)

2 tablespoons coconut oil

¼ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

2 tablespoons coconut cream

3 tablespoons of chopped walnuts

1 tablespoon toasted coconut flakes

1 tablespoon Manuka honey

Directions

Melt coconut oil in large skillet over a medium heat, add sliced apples and cook for 3-4 minutes stirring them occasionally so they don’t stick to the skillet.

Add cinnamon, nutmeg and cook for another minute, add the honey and coconut cream and allow to simmer until the mixture thickens.

Stir in walnuts and coconut flakes- serve and enjoy.

You can add a little Greek Yogurt on top if you like 🙂
