HOMEMADE Guacamole
In this easy Homemade guacamole recipe has only 114 mg of sodium per 3 tablespoons of guacamole; we mix in a little creamy goat cheese for a tangy version of a classic favorite. Serve it with some crunchy vegetables like celery and carrots.
Ingredients
- 3 large ripe avocados
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- ⅓ cup thinly sliced fresh chives
- ¼ cup crumbled goat cheese
¼ teaspoon ground pepper
Mash avocados, lemon juice and chives with a fork in a medium bowl until half the mixture is smooth and the rest is chunky. Add goat cheese and pepper; gently stir to combine.
HOMEMADE SALSA
Making your own Homemade Salsa is a healthy choice, eliminating the salt and added ingredients from the store ought versions.
Ingredients
1 can of no salt added diced tomatoes
2 green onions, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 fresh jalapeño, chopped
1/2 bunch fresh cilantro, chopped
1/2 teaspoon of cumin
1 teaspoon of dried oregano
Pulse all ingredients in a food processor or blender until the larger items are small and chunky – don’t over blend because you’ll end up with a salsa smoothie!
Refrigerate for 2-3 hours to allow the flavors to taste the best.
